DuraMAT's predictive simulation work for photovoltaic (PV) modules includes:
- Module-scale, thermo-mechanical structural and electrical modeling
- Material modeling
- Interface and adhesion modeling.
It also includes material property characterization required for model inputs and experimental validation.
This capability area allows for a better understanding of how module deployment environments induce the damaging thermal and mechanical stresses leading to module degradation via delamination, cell fracture, and solder bond fatigue—among other mechanisms. The resulting models can inform module design, material selection, and accelerated test conditions.
